Type the following command (without quotation marks) in the Run dialog box: "expand d:\i386\logonui.ex_ %windir%\system32\logonui.exe." This inflates the "LogonUI" file and copies it to your system repository on the directory specified by your Windows installation. Replace "d" with the letter designating your optical drive if it has another letter.

How to Fix the Windows LogonUI Error
The "LogonUI" application in Windows manages your startup and shutdown graphical user interface (GUI), which shows the Windows logo on your screen and the status of your shutdown. It also displays the login screen that you see when you first start up the PC. A corruption in this application might lead to problems booting up and shutting down, such as freezing. If you want to recover the LogonUI file, you must use your operating system's installation disc to inflate the contents and extract the file into your computer's system repository.
