How to Fix a Wireless Adapter Application Error

A wireless adapter application error occurs when you use a third-party application to manage and operate your built-in wireless card. When you receive this error, your wireless card may not function properly and you may not be able to connect your computer to a wireless connection. You can fix a wireless adapter error by following certain troubleshooting steps. Note that you will need administrative rights to perform this task.

      Restart your computer. Sometimes, a simple restart can troubleshoot errors with your wireless adapter.

      Uninstall the third-party program that controls your wireless adapter. Click the Start menu and select "All Programs." Scroll up to locate the program folder. Click "Uninstall." If you are unsure about this third-party program, you can identify it from the notification area on your task bar. The application will have an icon next to the clock and the network icon. Right-click the icon and select "Disable" or "Exit" depending on the program. This will free your wireless adapter from the third-party application that may have been causing issues with your wireless connection.

      Click the Start menu and select "Run..." Type without the quotes "devmgmt.msc" and press "Enter." This will launch your Device Manager. Scroll down to locate "Network adapters." Double-click to expand its contents. Right-click your network adapter and select "Enable."

      Navigate back to your wireless adapter. Right-click and select "Update drive software." Follow on-screen prompts to complete installation. Sometimes, an outdated wireless adapter driver can cause application errors.
