How to Flush an Epson 4000

Flushing a printer, such as the Epson 4000, is the process of cleaning the print heads. This process will be required when an ink cartridge has been replaced or there is a problem with the ink head, for the printer. To flush the printer, you should first run the standard process for cleaning the print head. If the standard process is ineffective, you will then need to run the power-cleaning cycle.

Clean Print Head

  Verify that you have paper in the paper tray of the printer.

  Click on the computer's "Start" button and select "Devices and Printers."

  Right-click on the icon for your Epson printer and select "Printing Preferences" from the context menu.

  Go to the "Utility" tab. Click the icon for "Nozzle Check," and then click on the button for "Auto."

  Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the process. A nozzle-check pattern will then print on a sheet of paper.

Run Power-Cleaning Cycle

  Press the "Menu" button that is on the control panel for the printer.

  Press the "Down" arrow button until you reach the option for "Maintenance." Press the "Menu" button again.
