How to Get Air Bubbles Out of Screen Protectors

Screen protectors are useful accessories that prevent scratches, smudges and cracks on any electronic device with an exposed screen. These inexpensive plastic covers can deter the costly replacement of camera, cell phone and even computer screens. Enough to drive anyone mad, though, are the air bubbles that often form in between the screen protector and the screen itself. Follow these steps to remove those unsightly and annoying air bubbles.

  Power off the device and lay it on a flat surface.

  Turn the blow dryer to low or warm heat. Hold the blow dryer over the problematic screen protector, being careful not to overheat the device.

  Use the credit card to scrape away the air bubbles. From the center of the screen and while the screen protector is still warm, use the edge of the credit card as though it were a squeegee to push away the bubbles. Scrape from the center of the screen outwards using several quick motions rather than one continuous scrape.

  Apply a mixture of rubbing alcohol and water to the screen protector if the air bubbles are still not completely removed. The safest way to do this without putting the device at risk of water damage is to fill a small spray bottle with about 70 percent rubbing alcohol and 30 percent water. Spray a small amount to the screen protector and repeat Step 3.

  Allow the screen protector to dry completely before using the device.
