- 1
Weed as much of the clover as possible, pulling the herb out from the root.
- 2
Collect the grass clippings immediately after mowing the lawn. Grass clippings are high in nitrogen and other nutrients that help nourish the soil.
- 3
Shred newspaper into thin strips. A paper shredder makes thin mulch shredding without effort, but you can also do this by hand.
- 4
Mix one part newspaper shredding with two parts of grass into a mulch mixutre. The newspaper may become moist from the clippings.
- 5
Lay the mulch over the soil around the flower bed. Give each flower stem about an inch of space to prevent suffocating the roots.

How to Get Rid of Clover in My Flower Gardens
Clover is a type of perennial herb thriving in high nitrogen areas. A common problem in lawns, clover can also steal nutrients from soil and overtake flower gardens. Pesticides may have adverse affects on other garden varieties, as well as negative environmental results. Natural or organic solutions are available to control clover while allowing all other plants to thrive.
