How to Get Sound From Laptop to TV

A computer full of music is great, but it would be even better to be able to play that music on your home stereo system. Connecting a laptop to a TV is a great way to experience this kind of a boost to a laptop's audio. If both your laptop and your TV have an HDMI port, this can be accomplished with ease. Even if it doesn't have an HDMI port, there is still a simple way to get your computer's media to play through your TV.

Using An HDMI Cable

  Plug one end of the HDMI cable into your computer. It doesn't matter which end.

  Plug the other end of the cable into your TV.

  Select the corresponding HDMI input on your TV to have audio and video from your computer appear on your TV.

Using RCA Cables

  Plug one end of the 3.5mm auxiliary cable into the headphone jack on your laptop.

  Plug the other end of the cable into the 3.5mm end of your 3.5mm RCA cable.

  Plug the red and white male plugs of your 3.5mm RCA cable into the audio inputs on your TV.

  Select the corresponding input on your TV to listen to your laptop through your TV's audio system.
