How to Ignore Office Genuine Advantage Update

Office Genuine Advantage is a software application that attempts to verify the license validity of your copy of Microsoft Office. If your copy of office passes the verification check, you wil be able to validate your software product. This validation is required to install important updates from Microsoft. You can choose not to ignore the Office Genuine Advantage program, but doing so will prevent you from installing future Office updates.

  Click "Start" and type "Windows Update."

  Click "Check for Updates" on the left side of the window.

  Click the "Updates are Available" item on the right side of the screen.

  Scroll down to the Office Genuine Advantage update application. It is listed in the updates screen and labeled "KB949810."

  Right-click the update and click "Hide Update." You will no longer be prompted to install the Office Genuine Advantage update.
