Low Profile Tires
- 1
Replace your factory 215/60 R16 tires with a set of all-season performance touring tires.
- 2
Evaluate the condition of your struts. Replace both front struts to immediately improve handling if you notice leaking or cracks that might indicate the strut has failed. You may upgrade from the stock strut/coil combination to a lower sprung aftermarket kit. A maximum 1-inch lowering is recommended to avoid tire clearance problems. By lowering the car 1 inch, the center of gravity on the Taurus also will be lowered. This will provide better cornering and an improved steering response.
- 3
Inspect the front and rear stabilizer bar end links, also known as stabilizer bar bushings. They are made of rubber and are susceptible to wear. Repair damaged end links to ensure the stabilizer bar functions correctly in its effort to reduce body roll during cornering.
