How to Install a CB Coax Cable End

Terminating citizen's band coaxial cables is similar in many ways to finishing other coaxial ends. The major difference is the need to solder portions of the connector. CB wires are the same as other types of coax, with the connector itself dictating the difference.

Lay the end of the cable into the stripper. Squeeze the handles and rotate, removing 1-1/2 inches of the outer jacket.

    • 2

Twist the inner braid so that 1/8 inch of inner plastic tubing is exposed, along with 1/2 inch of inner copper conductor.

    • 3

Slide the PL-259 collar and connector over the end of the cable. Apply a small bead of solder at the two points indicated by small holes on the center and close to the tip of the connector.

Lay the collar of the main connector into the ratchet crimper. Squeeze the handle until the clicking sound stops.

    • 5

Slide the collar up the cable and screw it to the main connector shell.
