How to Install a Comcast Cable Box & Hook Up a VCR

Though VCRs are largely obsolete, in many cases you can still connect one to your television even if you have a cable box. It's also useful to have a VCR if you don't have a DVR box and want to tape programs for later viewing. If you have a Comcast cable box, setting up your VCR to work with the cable service and television is a simple matter of connecting cords between the devices.

  Connect your cable-in coaxial cord (routed in directly from the outside of your home) to the "Cable In" or "RF In" connector on your Comcast cable box.

  Connect another coaxial cord from the "Cable Out" or "RF Out" connector on the Comcast cable box to the "Cable In" or "RF In" connector on the back of your VCR.

  Insert another coaxial cord from the "Cable Out" or similarly named connection on the back of the VCR and connect it to the "Antenna In" or similarly named plug on your television.

  Turn on the VCR and insert a VCR tape to watch your video. Your television and VCR must be tuned to the correct channel (usually two, three or four) in order to view a VCR tape or to record shows while connected to a cable box. Check your TV and VCR user manuals to confirm the correct channel.
