How to Install Delta Faucet Replacement Parts

Delta faucets contain several faucet replacement parts that allow rehabilitation of the main faucet components. This includes the handle, seals and stems. Replacing these parts involves just a little bit of knowledge and skill, but requires only the use of general home improvement tools. If you have about an hour of time, you can replace virtually any part without a lot of frustration. Just be sure to have the parts on hand before taking the faucet apart.

Turn off the water to the faucet by closing the valves on the faucet pipes under the sink.

    • 2

Remove the cap on top of the Delta faucet handle by prying it up with a screwdriver. With an Allen wrench or screwdriver, depending on what type of screw is used, unscrew the screw under the protective cap and pull the handle off. Replace the handle with a new one by sliding it on the stem and tightening the screw. If this isn't the part you want to replace, go on to the next step.

Grip the adjusting ring (a brass ring that is under the faucet handle) with a pair of pliers and turn it slightly to loosen it. Remove this, then unscrew the bonnet cap by turning this to the left. Use pliers wrapped in a cloth if this cap does not come off by hand. Each of these parts may be replaced by following this step in reverse order. Go on to the next step to replace the seats and springs.

Pull out the ball valve and seats and springs inside the faucet head. Insert new seats and springs into the vacated holes in the faucet head. Then install the new ball valve on top of them.

    • 5

Reassemble the faucet by attaching the bonnet cap and adjusting cap, then installing the handle and tightening the retaining screw. Then replace the cap.
