How to Install a Graco Snugride With Base Problems

Graco makes a wide variety of car seats for children of every age and size. The SnugRide is one of two infant car seats the company offers, and is an exclusively rear-facing seat for infants weighing from 5 to 22 pounds, who are less than 29 inches in height. The Graco SnugRide comes with a base that can be installed in your vehicle, allowing for easy "snap-in, snap-out" use of the car seat. If the base becomes damaged and can no longer be used safely, the Graco SnugRide can still be installed safely in your vehicle without the base.

Place your Graco SnugRide car seat in a rear-facing position in a forward-facing rear seat of your vehicle.

    • 2

Thread the seat belt up and over the car seat, making sure it goes under the vehicle belt hook on the armrest on both sides of the car seat.

    • 3

Buckle the seat belt, making sure it is not twisted.

    • 4

Tighten the seat belt while pressing firmly on the car seat with your hand or knee. Instructions on how to tighten the seat belt can be found in your vehicle owner's manual.

Twist and pull the car seat to ensure that it is securely fastened. When installed properly, it will not move more than one inch in any direction.
