How to Install Windows Mobile 6 on Blackjack

Samsung released an update for the BlackJack that allows users to upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.0 using your computer. This updates includes Windows Mobile 6, MS Office Mobile, video sharing technology improvements and other software enhancements for the device. Installing the Windows Mobile 6.0 software will erase all information from your phone, so back up all your information prior to the update.

Preparing Your Computer

  Download and install the Windows Mobile Device Center on your computer (see Resources).

  Install the Samsung drivers onto your computer using the CD provided with your device or the Samsung website (see Resources).

  Disable firewalls and anti-virus software on your computer.

Prepare Your Phone

  Click "Start" from your mobile phone.

  Click "Settings."

  Click "Connections."

  Click "USB" and change the "USB" setting to the "Modem" setting using the directional keys.

Establish Connection with Your Phone and Computer

  Connect the USB cable to your phone and an open USB slot on your computer. The set-up wizard will begin automatically. Follow the instructions provided by the wizard to ensure your software is installed correctly.

  Disconnect the USB cable from your phone only after the set-up wizard is complete.

  Change the phone back to "ActiveSync" setting by clicking "Start," "Settings," "Connections" and "USB," then switch from "USB" to "ActiveSync" using the directional arrows.

  Select the items you would like to back up from your phone in the synchronization window that appears. The synchronization will automatically complete.

  Open "Windows Mobile Device Center" after your phone is synchronized.

  Click "Mobile Device Settings."

  Click "Connection Settings" and uncheck "Allow USB Connections."

  Disconnect your USB cable from your phone.

  Turn your phone off.

  Click "Start" and "My computer," then locate and open the file named "SGH-i607 WM6 Upgragde.exe."

  Enter "7530" as the "Downloader ID" and "3539" as the "Downloader Key" in the "Downloader" screen.

  Connect the phone to the USB cable with the power off.

  Press and hold the right menu key and the camera button on your phone simultaneously. The right menu key is the button to the right of the directional keys with three dots on it.

  Press and release the power button on your phone while continuing to hold the menu and camera buttons.

  Release the right menu key and the camera buttons when the "USB Downloader" screen appears.

  Click "Start" in the "Image ROM Update" window that appears on your computer. The software updater will begin. Follow the steps of the wizard to install the software on your phone.

  Select "OK" at the "Perform command line reset" window.

  Enter "*2767*3855#" at the reboot screen using the keypad on your mobile phone. Your phone will complete the restart and be ready for normal use.
