How to Jailbreak an iTouch 4.0

The operating system featured on devices like the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad is called iOS. While the OS itself is very powerful for average users, many users do not like the locked-down nature of it and choose to jailbreak their device to gain more freedom. Jailbreaking allows you full customization of your device.

  Download and install Greenp0ison. There are versions available for Windows, Mac and Linux (see Resources).

  Run Greenp0ison and power off your device. Plug the device into your computer via USB cable.

  Press the "Prepare to Jailbreak (DFU)" button in the Greenp0ison application.

  Press the "Sleep" button for two seconds, press "Sleep" and "Home" for 10 seconds, then release "Sleep" while still holding "Home" for 15 seconds. Greenp0ison will also explain all of this on the screen.

  Press the "Jailbreak" button within the Greep0ison application. After the application finishes its process, your iPod Touch will be jailbroken. Use the "Loader" application to download Cydia. Cydia is used to download many useful apps that require a jailbreak.
