How to Make Brown Sugar Crystals

There is nothing worse than preparing to make your favorite recipe and not having the right ingredients in the house. If the ingredient that you are missing happens to be brown sugar crystals, don't despair. Since the brown sugar that you purchase from your grocery store is usually a mix of refined white sugar and molasses, as long as you have white sugar and a bottle of molasses in your pantry, you are back in business.

      Substitute the necessary amount of brown sugar crystals with white granulated sugar crystals. Measure out the white sugar and add it to a large mixing bowl.

      Measure 1 tbsp. of molasses for each cup of white sugar and add it to the bowl. Combine the molasses and the white sugar using a fork.

      Add the sugar and molasses mixture to your recipe once combined.
