How to Make a Trader Card

Kids have been collecting trading cards for years. Whether the sport is baseball, football, hockey or any other organized sport, trading cards are part of American culture. Use photo editing or graphic design programs to create trading cards for yourself or for any team you may be associated with. The cards can be as simple or complex as you want.

Collect team and player statistics. You can collect player statistics from the team manager for each player and you can also hand out questionnaires to the players to collect more unique information, such as their favorite food, TV show or school subject.

    • 2

Take pictures of each player. Arrange for all the players to arrive at a practice a little early or take time out of the practice so each individual can have their picture taken. Also take a photograph of the entire team, including the coach or coaching staff. Include props from your sport. Pose them in ways familiar to the sport. Baseball players, for instance, can hold the baseball bat like they are at the plate.

Design a card template in the photo editing or graphic design program you are using. Fill in the information about each player and include the picture.

    • 4

Print out the front and back of the card onto photo stock paper. This paper is both more durable than traditional paper and has finish to it that will give it a true card look.

Trim any excess paper from around the edges of the card and glue the two sides together. When using this technique, you will have to make each card individually. To make sets of the cards, you may choose to save the cards onto a computer disk and bring it to a professional printer so they may print multiple copies of each card.
