How to Migrate an AIM Pro Account to a New Computer When the Password is Unknown?

AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) Pro is an instant messaging service provided by AOL. Like the regular edition of AIM, you do not have to be a registered AOL user to download and use AIM Pro. In addition to instant messaging features, AIM Pro offers video and voice conferencing, secure file sharing and desktop sharing. If you have forgotten your AIM Pro password, AIM offers simple password recovery tools to help you log back into your AIM Pro account.

  Open the Internet browser on your computer and navigate to the AIM website (see Resources).

  Click on the "Settings" link at the top of the window and then click the "Manage My Account" tab on the Settings screen.

  Type your username into the appropriate box and then click the "Forgot password?" link underneath the password entry box.

  Type your username into the top box and then enter the text from the security image box into the bottom box. Click the "Next" button when you are finished.

  Type your email address into the box on the next screen, or you can enter your birth date, gender and zip code. Click the "Submit" button.

  Type the answer to your security question and click the "Submit" button on the following window.

  Type a new password into the box and then retype the password into the next box. Click the "Submit" button. A message will appear telling you that you can now sign in to AIM using the new password.
