How to Pair a 2005 BMW 325I

Bluetooth technology provides a way for two devices to connect wirelessly and transmit information back and forth. The technology is used with cell phones so that you can talk on the phone by using your headset or your car's audio system, leaving your hands free to do other things. Before you can start using your Bluetooth phone with your BMW 325I, you have to go through a connection process, called pairing, which will allow the two devices to exchange information.

Turn the ignition to start your BMW 325I. The car needs to be running for this process to work.

    • 2

Press down on your navigation control stick to open up the menu on your BMW's display.

    • 3

Move the controller to the right to highlight "Setting" and press down on the controller to select it. Then scroll down to, and select, "Bluetooth." Push the controller again to select "Phone," then scroll down to "Pair new phone" and select it. Finally push the controller to start the pairing process.

Access the "Bluetooth" menu on your mobile phone. The location of this menu will differ depending on your model of phone, but it is normally located in the main menu, the "Settings" menu or the "Tools" menu.

    • 5

Have your phone search for nearby devices. This option will be called "Add Device," "New Device" or simply "Add" or "Search," depending on your model of phone. Once the phone searches, it will display a list of nearby Bluetooth devices.

Scroll to your BMW on the list of Bluetooth devices and select it. Enter a 1- to 16-digit passcode that you can remember.

Use your BMW 325I's control stick to enter the same number on your BMW. Your phone is now paired up with your BMW.
