How to Program a Craftsman Remote Opener

Garage opener remotes have become almost standard on garage openers around the world, and these remotes can be used to control the system from as far as a couple hundred feet away. Craftsman is compatible with a variety of garage door types and you can program your Craftsman opener in just seconds from within your garage. Programming requires only the remote itself and access to the motor system inside the garage.

  Enter your garage with your garage remote and press and release the "Smart" button on the side of your motor unit, located near the antenna wire.

  Wait for the LED light next to the "Smart" button to start flashing. Press and hold the "Open" button on your remote within 30 seconds.

  Hold the button until the main light on the motor unit flashes twice. Release the button.

  Wait 30 seconds for the LED light on the motor to stop flashing and the programming will be completed.
