How to Recover a Lost Drive

Data can be lost on your hard drive when you visit certain malicious websites, download corrupt files or rearrange system data. These corrupt files damage your hard drive configurations and files. You can download free data recovery programs that you can run to salvage and restore your hard drive.
  • EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard

      Navigate to the EASEUS website (see Resources). Click on "Download" to save Data Recovery Wizard to your computer.

      Double-click the setup file to install "Data Recovery Wizard" to your computer. Follow prompts to click "Next" and select the directory where you will install the program.

      Click "Start" and select "All Programs." Click the "EASEUS" folder to open it and click on "Data Recovery Wizard" to open the program.

      Select "Complete Recovery" and click "Next." The program will recover your drive.

    PC Inspector File Recovery 4.x

      Navigate to the PC Inspector website (see Resources). Click on "File Recovery 4.x" under "Download Here" to save the setup file to another hard drive other than the hard drive you wish to recover. If you would like to read the additional information on the page, click on "EN" in the upper right-hand corner to display the website in English.

      Double-click the "File Recovery" setup file to install the program. Follow prompts to click "Next" and select the directory where you will install the program.

      Click to open the File Recovery program on the hard drive to which you installed it, and select your desired language. English is the second option in the Language sub-menu. Click the green check mark to continue after you select your language.

      Follow on-screen prompts to select your desired recovery option and click "Next" to recover your drive.

    Restoration 3.2.13

      Navigate to the Softpedia website and click the blue "Download" button to save Restoration 3.2.13 to your computer.

      Double-click on the "Restoration 3.2.13" file to run the software on your computer. You run Restoration as an application rather than install it on your computer.

      Select the drive you wish to restore and click on "Search Deleted Files" to recover your lost drive.
