Remove the lower dashboard sound panels, and locate the computer. If it is on the driver's side, remove the mounting bracket bolts with a 3/8-inch socket that attaches the bracket to the floor. Slide the computer back, and unplug the connectors. Remove the mounting bolts that attach the computer to the bracket, and set the computer aside. This location is far less common than behind the glove compartment.

Open the glove compartment, and use a screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the glove compartment liner to the frame. Remove the lower hinge bolts with a 3/8-inch socket. The hinge bolts secure the glove compartment lid to the frame. Set these components aside.

Use the socket wrench to remove the computer bracket to the flooring. Slide the computer back, and unplug the wiring connectors. Completely remove the computer from under the dashboard, and use a socket wrench to remove the two mounting bolts that hold the computer to the frame.

Install the new computer onto the mounting frame. In both locations, the computer is mounted to the frame, loosely placed into the designated location, and the wiring harness connectors are snapped into place. The mounting bolts are secured into place with a socket wrench.

Reassemble the glove compartment in the reverse order of disassembly, by fixing the door into place and installing the lower mounting bolts. Snug them securely, but do no overtighten and strip the threads, by using a socket wrench. Install the liner and tighten the screws. Reinstall the lower cover.

How to Remove the ECM From a 1994 Toyota Camry
The 1994 Camry engine control module (ECM) is located underneath the dashboard and is located in one of two possible places. The first location is under the driver's side, on the far right, sitting on the humped part of the floor. The other location is behind the glove compartment. This year model uses the computer to precisely control the fuel injectors.
