How to Remove the EGR Valve on a 2003 300C

The 300 is a full-sized luxury sedan designed and manufactured by Chrysler. The 300C is the top of the line version equipped with a 5.7L Hemi V8 engine. The vehicle has an EGR system that includes the EGR valve. The EGR valve directs all exhaust gasses into the intake manifold to be cooled. This will prevent the vehicle from overheating and causing damage to the engine. It's important to learn how to properly access and remove the EGR in case it needs to be cleaned or replaced. Keeping the EGR maintained will ensure good gas mileage and a smooth-running vehicle.

Place the 300C in "Park" on a level surface. Let the vehicle sit and cool for a half hour to ensure that all components have had ample time to cool.

Open the 300C hood by pulling hood-release lever located inside the vehicle under the steering column on the driver side. Locate the EGR valve. The valve is found on the passenger side of the vehicle on the back of the engine on the intake manifold. You will see a small circular metal valve with a hose coming straight out of it; this is the EGR.

Unplug the hose from the EGR and place it to the side. Remove the two bolts securing the valve in place, using a socket wrench. Place the bolts to the side.

Pull the valve straight off of the intake manifold. The valve may require a bit of force to remove if the valve or valve mount has excessive buildup. The valve is now removed and is ready for maintenance.
