How to Remove a Fender Vintage Bridge

The Fender vintage bridge has been fitted to many classic Fender guitars over the years, including the Stratocaster and the Telecaster. Many modern bridges are seen as a better option as general wear and tear on the vintage compromises its ability to stay in tune. If you want to remove the vintage bridge from your Fender, it is a very quick and simple job.

  Remove the ashtray bridge cover by sliding it toward the base of the guitar. Not all vintage bridges have an ashtray.

  Remove the tremolo bar by unscrewing it from the bridge.

  Remove the strings by unwinding the tuners and taking them off in one piece or by cutting them with wire cutters.

  Remove the screws at the top of the bridge.

  Lift out the bridge. If it is tightly mounted, you can use a flathead screwdriver or knife to pry it up.
