How to Remove the Jump Seat on a Ford Ranger

The Ford Ranger is a compact pickup truck that entered the automotive market in 1983. During the 1986 model year, a larger "Super Cab" trim option became available that included additional seating for passengers. Removing the rear jump seats in your Ford Ranger may free up additional cargo space when the need for additional passenger occupancy is not an immediate concern. Removal may also be necessary if the rear jump seats need repairs or reupholstering.

Open the driver's side door of the vehicle followed by the third door, allowing better access to the jump seat for removal.

Remove the plastic trim clip holding the plastic shroud located underneath the jump seat with a trim clip removal tool or flat head screwdriver. The trim clip is located on the right inside corner, underneath the jump seat.

Pull the bottom shroud piece off of the jump seat frame and set it to the side.

Fold the jump seat down to the seating position and locate the Torx bolt as well as the 1/2-inch bolt retaining the right-side portion of the seat mount to the cab floor. Use your ratchet, extensions, Torx T50 socket and 1/2-inch socket to remove the bolts on the right side.

Remove the bolt holding the left side jump seat mounting plate to the cab floor, using your ratchet tool and 1/2-inch socket.

Fold the jump seat up to the upward storage position. Remove the two remaining mounting bolts located directly underneath the seat that secure the jump seat's mounting plate to the floor with your ratchet tool and 1/2-inch socket.

Lift the seat out of the truck carefully to complete the removal process.
