How to Remove a T22 Screen

If you've been having problems with the LCD screen on your Thinkpad T-series laptop, then you can actually remove and replace the screen yourself. The process of disassembling your screen is fairly straightforward and doesn't require the help of a service technician. The best part is that it doesn't require many tools.
    • 1

Power off your ThinkPad and remove the AC power cable. Unplug the rectangular battery pack from its port on the underside of the computer.

    • 2

Locate the screws on the sides and corners of the bezel (frame) surrounding the LCD screen. If they are covered with pads, then use your fingers or the tip of your screwdriver to pop them off.

    • 3

Remove the screws from the bezel and set them aside.

    • 4

Pry the bezel gently off the screen by the sides and corners, and set the bezel aside. The rectangular inverter board will now be visible and mounted below the screen.

    • 5

Unplug the cables that connect at either end of the inverter board.

    • 6

Tilt the LCD screen itself away from the back panel of the computer. Unplug the thick screen cable located in the back of the screen.

    • 7

Remove the screws from the metal mounting brackets located on either side of the screen.

    • 8

Lift the screen out of the brackets to remove it. Reverse the steps for reassembly.
