How to Repair the Driver Side Mirror on a 1999 Buick Regal

The driver's side mirror on a 1999 Buick Regal is a large plastic enclosure bolted to the side of the door. To replace the whole mirror, you must take the inner door apart and pull the mirror out. However, you can repair the driver side mirror by pulling the lens out of the housing and then replacing it with a new one. This limits the amount of time needed and requires no tools to complete.

Push the right side of the Regal's mirror into the mirror housing with your hand. This pushes the left side of the mirror out of the housing.

Grasp the mirror lens with your hand and pull out on it until the mirror pulls free of the housing. There is a long metal strip secured to the back of the lens that slides into a slot in the mirror motor attached to the inside of the housing. As you pull on the mirror, it pulls the strip out of the motor.

Place the tip of the new mirror's metal strip into the slot on the mirror motor and then push the strip into the motor until the mirror lens sits flush with the front edge of the mirror housing.
