- 1
Shut off the water-pipe valves underneath the faucet.
- 2
Take out the small round plug in the back of the faucet's handle and take out the screw in this hole with an Allen wrench. Pull the handle off the cartridge stem.
- 3
Take off the bonnet (plastic washer) and unscrew the nut under it to free the cartridge. Pull the cartridge out by hand. It will slide out easily. If not, remove any other restricting washers or nuts.
- 4
Remove the cartridge itself by pulling it straight up and out of the faucet head. The adapter should come off with the cartridge. Remove the adapter and place it on the new cartridge, then slide the new cartridge into the faucet.
- 5
Replace the cartridge nut and bonnet, and then re-attach the handle and screw in the Allen screw with the Allen wrench.

How to Repair a Leak in a Kohler Faucet K-10413
The Kohler K-10413-model faucet uses one handle to operate two hot and cold valves inside the faucet's cartridge. This is the part in need of repair if you discover leaks or cannot properly adjust the temperature of your water. Taking this part out requires no special skills, but it will take about a half hour of time. Knowing a little bit about the inner workings of your faucet is also a great help during this project.
