How to Repair a Scratch on a Leather Car Seat

Many cars come with seating that is made of leather. Leather seating is not difficult to maintain, compared to other materials, and adds a vintage appeal. Over use and time though, leather car seating can become scratched. It is imperative to repair these scratches as quickly as possible, because if they are left alone they can develop into a large tear in the upholstery. You can repair the seating by using a leather repair kit to fix the scratch.

Buy a leather repair kit from an auto shop or an online retailer. Ensure that the kit offers the same color as the car's upholstery.

Apply and spread a moderate amount of leather adhesive to the scratch, using a toothpick. Even-out the adhesive on the scratch. Make sure that you do not leave adhesive on the outer areas of the scratch.

Bond the adhesive onto the leather using the kit's heat applicator (most kits come with some type of heat applicator). As an alternative, you can use a hair dryer.

Let the adhesive cool for several hours. Afterwards, dry the area with a nonabrasive towel.
