Purchase a new remote from the dealership or automotive store where your alarm system was installed. Make sure the remote is the same brand as the system that you have installed.

Sit in your car with your remote and ignition key. Insert the key into the ignition, turn it to the "ACC," or Accessories, position and leave the driver's door open.

Wait for the chimes to stop and press the "Valet" button on your remote.

Wait for the alarm to chirp once, press and hold the "Valet" button again and press the button you would like to program; do this while holding the "Valet" button.

Wait for the horn to chirp again and release the button that you are programming.

Release the "Valet" button and remove your key from the ignition to end the programming of the new remote.
