How to Replace the Headlamp of a 2000 Grand Am

Headlamps on a vehicle are obviously of utmost importance to drivers. On occasion, the headlamp bulbs can burn out, just like regular light bulbs. When headlamps on a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am burn out or aren't functioning well enough, replace them immediately. Luckily, you can replace a headlight bulb just about anywhere as long as you have replacement bulbs handy.

      Release and open the hood.

      Find the splash shield on top of the headlight assembly. Remove the splash shield's fasteners, then remove the splash shield.

      Lift the two clips holding the headlight assembly in place. Remove the entire headlight assembly by pulling it straight out.

      Rotate the bulb assembly about one-sixth of a turn counterclockwise. Pull out the bulb assembly.

      Detach the bulb assembly from the wires and remove the bulb.

      Insert the new bulb into the bulb assembly and reattach the wires.

      Re-install the bulb assembly in the headlight housing by inserting it and rotating it about one-sixth of a turn clockwise until it is secure.

      Re-install the headlight assembly to its original location and fasten the clips to secure it in place.

      Re-install the splash shield to its original location and secure it in place with the fasteners. Test the new headlamp.
