How to Replace the Spark Plugs on a Chevy Celebrity

Experts recommend changing the spark plugs on a Chevy Celebrity every 15,000 to 20,000 miles. However, it does not hurt to change them more often than that. Clean spark plugs help to keep your car running efficiently. They also help prevent hesitation when you depress the gas pedal during takeoff. It is easy to replace the spark plugs yourself if you buy the proper plugs for your vehicle.

  Pull the spark plug wire off the plug by grasping the boot and pulling it off. Remove the spark plug with a spark plug socket, ratchet and extension. Discard the plug.

  Open the new plug and check the gap with a feeler gauge. Although the spark plug gap is set at the factory, you must always check new plugs before installing them in your car. The gap for the Chevy Celebrity is .45 thousandths, using your feeler gauge.

  Install the new plug into the engine of the Celebrity and tighten it snugly with a spark plug socket and ratchet. Place the plug wire back on the spark plug and push it down until you feel it snap into place. Repeat the process for each spark plug.
