How to Replace the Turn Signal Switch on a 1996 Buick Regal

The turn signal switch on a 1996 Buick Regal allows you to operate the vehicle safely and legally, by giving you quick and easy control of the turn signal system. The turn signal lever, which protrudes from the switch, gives you the ability to turn the signals on or off with a quick motion. If the switch malfunctions, you won't have the ability to signal your intent to turn or change lanes to other drivers, which often leads to accidents.   Pry the clam shell off the top of the 1996 Buick Regal steering column. The clam shell is the trim covering, located in front of the Regal steering wheel, on top of the steering column.

  Unplug the wiring connector from the turn signal switch by hand. Remove the retaining screw from the Regal turn signal switch, using your Phillips screwdriver.

  Lift the old turn signal switch from the steering column, by hand, and set it aside. Insert the new switch in place.

  Install the Regal turn signal switch retaining screw, using the Phillips screwdriver. Plug the wiring connector into the new turn signal switch, by hand.

  Snap the clam shell back in place, by hand.
