Insert your Windows 7 DVD into your computer's disc drive. The Windows 7 set-up screen should automatically appear. If it does not, click "Start" and select "Computer." Double-click the icon for your DVD drive, and double-click the "Setup.exe" icon.

Select "Install Now" from the main menu.

Click the boxes next to all the available updates. It is a good idea to patch your Windows 7 version with the latest updates upon installation, and by clicking the boxes, the patching will occur automatically.

Select "I accept these terms" from the License Agreement. Click "Next."

Select "Custom." Select the drive where Windows CE is located, which is the C:\ drive on most computers. Select "Next" and then "OK." Follow the remaining prompts to finish installing Windows 7.

Eventually, your computer's operating system will stop receiving support as newer operating systems are released. This support may be in the form of updates from Microsoft or computer software, which generally require the latest two or three operating systems to run. Windows CE users will find that a large variety of computer software, including everything from PC games to productivity software, requires Windows 7 to function properly. Replacing Windows CE with Windows 7 will require a few hours of your time.
