  Record your message by holding the card open and pressing the record button. On some versions, you may need to push the play and record buttons at the same time.

  Hold the button(s) down for the full length of the recording. Standard cards allow a recording of around 10 seconds in duration, but you can order cards that record for 20 or 30 seconds.

  Play the message. Close the card and open it to play the message back. If there is an excess of background noise or you have spoken (or played music) too loudly or too near to the microphone, you may have made a bad recording. It might be fuzzy, distorted, or unable to be heard properly over the background noise. You will want to record the message again.

  Repeat steps 1, 2 and 3 until you are happy with your message.
