Place tape in the upper-left corner of your cartridge contacts. Place your cartridge in your actual printer and print a single alignment page.

Remove your cartridge from the device. Take the tape you previously used and now place it on the opposite corner of your cartridge. Insert your cartridge in your machine again and print another alignment page.

Take out your cartridge and put it back in again. However, do not place any tape on your cartridge contacts. This enables you to reset the ink on your HP.

How to Reset Ink on an HP
HP, also known as Hewlett-Packard, sells printer cartridges you can refill without difficulty. However, to enable your device to work once more after a refill takes some more effort. The contacts that lie on the rear portion of a printer cartridge do not reset automatically when you insert additional ink. You need to enable your printer to detect the actual cartridge to reset the device. If you learn how to work with the contacts of your cartridge, you can reset your cartridge easily.
