How to Reset the Light on an Acura TL SRS

The SRS, or supplemental restraint system, is another way of referring to your airbag system in your Acura TL. If the indicator light for your SRS comes on in your car, it means that your airbag has malfunctioned in some way and that it needs to be resolved so that it can deploy during an emergency. The malfunction may have also occurred as a result of accidentally unplugging your SRS sensor, or if you have gotten into a minor accident that did not set off your airbag. Resetting the system can be done with just a paperclip.

      Straighten out a metal paperclip.

Find the connector for the SRS. It is located under the steering column and is yellow or yellow-green in color. It will also have a contact area that has two holes.

    • 3

Insert one end of the straightened paperclip into each of the contacts.

Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position. The light for the SRS will come on. After a few seconds, will turn off and then on again. Each time that it comes on again, remove the paperclip and then insert it back into the contacts. Do this until you see the SRS symbol blink twice and turn off.
