How to Scan Construction Documents

Construction project documentation requires the use of large format sheets, often reaching dimensions of 36 to 48 inches. Whenever the need arises to reproduce these drawings, it can be a difficult task to find reproduction equipment capable of completing the task. Many areas have print shops and reproduction graphics companies that can do this for a small fee. If your design or construction firm has a large format scanner, however, it is quite simple to do yourself.

Examine the large format scanner to determine if it requires the sheets to be fed face up or face down. This will be indicated by a small icon that visually designates how the machine operates.

    • 2

Slide the sheet to be copied into the feed slot slowly. It is important to make sure it is placed into the scanner evenly so that it does not bind when the auto feed rollers feed it through.

    • 3

Select any print options available. Many models allow you to make copies, scan to file and even determine the color, file size, and file type of the scanned document.

    • 4

Press the start or scan button. The machine should automatically feed the sheet through the large format scanner and then feed it back out to you when it is finished scanning.

    • 5

Remove the sheet from the scanner and feed the next sheet, if required.
