Connect the Officejet 4315 to the Mac using the cable included with the device. Turn it on.

Go to the "Applications" folder on the computer, and double-click the "Preview" icon.

Click on the "File" menu, and select "Import from Scanner."

Choose the HP Officejet 4315 from the list on the screen. The scan interface opens in a window on the screen.

Insert the pages you want to scan with the printed side down going top first in the document feeder tray of the Officejet 4315. Press the "Scan" button.
