How to Search for International Phone Numbers

Time was when a search for someone's phone number in Moscow, Paris or London might have meant going to the city in question to check local directories, or finding a specialty library with a collection of international phone books. These days, you can search for international phone numbers on the Internet. There are even tools to translate foreign-language pages into English to help with your search.
    • 1

Visit Numberway.com, a website that offers links to international telephone directories on the web.

    • 2

Click on the name of the country where you want to search for a phone number. If the country is not listed, click on the appropriate region of the world to expand the country listings.

    • 3

Review the online list of phone books for the country you selected, and choose a directory to search. In general, use white pages for residential listings and yellow pages for business listings. You may also find city or regional listings in some countries.

Numberway usually lists the most comprehensive national phone directories first, followed by those with a more limited or specialized function.

Click the link for the directory in which you want to search. The search page will be displayed.

Check the directory webpage for language options. Many international directories offer you a choice of languages for the interface. English is typically represented by "EN" or by a small flag of the USA or the UK.

    • 6

Enter the name you are searching for in the appropriate field. You can enter additional information, such as a city or street address, if you know them.

    • 7

Click "Search," or "Find," or a similarly labeled button, to display the phone listings for the name you entered.
