How to Sell Used RVs

If you have an RV that you are no longer using for family vacations or just no longer need to keep around the house, you can sell your used RV. Selling a used RV is really no different than selling a used car. You can sell the used RV on your own, employing the same methods you would use to sell a used car. You can target potential buyers using both online ads and ads in print publications.

Wash the exterior of the RV and clean the inside before attempting to sell the used RV. If there are any problems or issues with the RV, such as stains in the carpet, you should try to fix those items before you show the RV to any potential buyers.

Take photos of the interior and exterior of the RV. You need these for your ads. Try to take photos that really show off the RV. For instance, do not take photos of the RV by your trash cans. Instead try to take the photos with some nice scenery in the background.

Use the NADA Guides website to check the value of your used RV. This will let you know how to price the RV in your sales ads.

Create some ads to sell your used RV. You can do a simple text ads in the local classified section of your newspaper. You can also do targeted ads to RV buyers using your photos on the RV Trader Online, RV Online and eBay Motors websites. Ad prices vary depending on where you are, how long your ad is and how many photos you want to use. If you want to create a free ad, you can do so on the Craigslist for your area.

Type up a bill of sale for your RV. It should say "Bill of Sale" at the top of the document. You need to describe the RV, including the year, model and VIN of the unit. Give an odometer reading, if applicable. Leave space for your name, your address, a buyer name and buyer address. Include a sentence that states that the buyer is purchasing the RV in "As-Is" condition, which relieves you of any liability.

Complete the bill of sale with the buyer and sign over the title of the used RV once you have come to an agreement. Once you do this, the buyer officially has ownership of the RV. Make sure you have removed the license plate and any personal items from the RV before the buyer leaves with it.
