Align a seating position so that it is centered with the screen.

Place the center channel immediately above or below the television. This helps anchor the dialogue to the screen.

Place the left and right speakers approximately 2 feet from the edge of the screen. These should ideally be at a 30-degree angle to the main listening spot.

Set the subwoofer along the front wall. These require trial and error prior in finding the ideal location, but should always be placed among the front three speakers.

Place the side surround speakers at a 90-degree angle to the listening position. With dipole or bipole speakers, the main listening position must be parallel to the front of the speakers for best results.

Place the surround back channels at a 135- to 150-degree angle to the rear of the listening position. For THX setups, these should be placed close together at a 180-degree location relative to the main listening position.
