Unlock the Palm Centro. Most Palm Centros are sold "carrier locked," which enables them to only work on a single network. However, most network operators will provide a code that unlocks the phone when requested, usually after a certain amount of time has passed from the purchase of the phone. Ask the original network carrier for an unlock code. Some networks may unlock the phone themselves and may require the phone be on hand for unlocking.

Order an Orange pay-as-you-go SIM card. SIM cards can be ordered from Orange online or picked up in an Orange store. A SIM card tells the phone what network to use. The Palm Centro will not be able to make or receive calls or texts without a working SIM card.

Insert the Orange SIM into the Palm Centro. Remove the back cover, stylus and battery from the Centro and place the SIM card chip-side down into the phone. A small pictograph of the SIM card, showing which way to insert the card, is located on the SIM port.

Turn on the Centro. Replace the battery, stylus and back cover of the Centro and wait for the phone to power on. If the phone has been properly unlocked, "ORANGE" will appear in the network name field in the top left-hand corner of the screen. If the phone has not been properly unlocked, then a message stating that the SIM card is not recognized will appear on the screen.

How to Set up a Palm Centro With Orange's Pay As You Go
The Palm Centro is a Palm OS-powered smartphone that operates on the GSM network frequencies. Orange is a GSM-based cellular network lin Europe. Orange offers pay-as-you-go plans that let customers pay for only the services they use. Unlocked Centros are able to work on any GSM network by utilizing that network's SIM card. Since most Centros are "carrier locked" and do not recognize other network's SIM cards, a Centro must be "unlocked" before working on Orange's network.
