Connect Time Warner Cable Box to HDTV (Only)

Connect the coaxial cable wire carrying the main TV signal (the cable coming from the wall) to the "Cable In" RF connector on the back of the Time Warner cable box.

Insert one end of each of the individual HDTV cables -- there are three in the set -- into the appropriate HD-component output jack on the back of the Timer Warner cable box. HDTV plugs and jacks are color coded red, blue, and green. Insert the other end of each HDTV cable into the appropriate HD-component input jack on the back of the HDTV.

Plug one end of each of the RCA audio cables -- there are two in a set -- into the appropriate Audio Out jack on the back of the Time Warner cable box. RCA audio plugs and jacks are also color coded. The red RCA plug goes into the red A/V jack often labeled "R" for "right." The white RCA plug goes into the white RCA jack often labeled "L" for "left."

Plug the HDTV's power cord into the power outlet located on the back of the Time Warner cable box.

Connect the cable box's power cord to the cable box's power input port. Then plug the cord into a wall outlet or power strip.
Connect Time Warner Cable Box to HDTV and VCR or DVD Recorder

Perform steps 1 through 3 from the previous section.

Plug one end of a set of A/V cables -- there are three in a set -- into the appropriate A/V Out jacks on the back of the Time Warner cable box. The red A/V plug goes into the red A/V jack. The white A/V plug goes into the white A/V jack, and the yellow A/V plug goes into the yellow A/V jack. Plug the other end of each of these cables into the appropriate A/V In jack on the back of the VCR or DVD recorder.

Use another set of A/V cables to connect the VCR or DVD recorder's A/V Out jacks to the HDTV set's A/V In jacks.
