How to Speed Up the HP Pavilion A1357C

One surefire way to get your HP Pavilion A1357C running faster is by upgrading the RAM (Random-Access Memory) module. Whereas in laptop computers you can remove and replace RAM via a compartment on the bottom of the laptop, on desktop computers such as this, you'll need to open up the tower. The good news is that the process is fairly straightforward.
    • 1

Turn off your A1357C and remove the power cable. Close the display screen and turn the unit upside down.

    • 2

Unplug the rectangular battery pack from its port on the underside of the computer.

    • 3

Locate the memory compartment in the middle of the underside of the computer. The compartment cover is held in place with a single captive screw.

    • 4

Remove the captive screw from the cover and remove the cover to expose the green memory module inside.

    • 5

Pry the metal tabs on either side of the module outward, and the module will pop slightly out of the compartment.

    • 6

Pull the module out of the compartment and fit a new DDR2 memory module in its place. Push the module gently down until the tabs lock it in place.

    • 7

Replace the compartment cover, screws and battery.
