- 1
Dig out and pull the weeds that are growing within 6 inches of the corn. Any residual spray will damage the corn.
- 2
Cut the cardboard into a 2-foot strip that can be wrapped around the base of the corn.
- 3
Wrap the cardboard around the base of the corn. Insert one edge of the cardboard into the dirt about 2 inches deep to ensure that the base of the corn is protected completely.
- 4
Cover the top of the corn stalk with the 30-gallon garbage bag. This will ensure that the wind does not blow the Roundup spray onto the corn.
- 5
Tape the open end of the garbage bag to the inside edge of the cardboard. This will completely seal off the corn from any wandering Roundup.
- 6
Fill the spray tank with 1 gallon (128 oz.) of water and pour 2 oz. of Roundup into the tank. Mix the solution with the mixing stick. This will give you a 1.5-percent dilution.
- 7
Place the cap on the spray tank and use the pump to build up the pressure inside of the tank.
- 8
Spray the weeds around the corn. The garbage bag and cardboard will protect the corn from the Roundup spray. Allow up to two weeks for the weeds to die completely.
- 9
Remove the bag and cardboard from around the corn after about an hour. At this point, the Roundup will be dry and working on the weeds around the corn.

How to Spray Roundup for Corn
Roundup is an herbicide designed to kill weeds and any other undesirable plants. Roundup does not discriminate, however, and will kill any and all plants it comes in contact with, including those you wish to keep. In moderation and with careful planning, Roundup can be used to kill the weeds present in a garden while protecting the vegetables inside. You should block your plants from the Roundup and spray the weeds as you normally would.
