How to Take Off Stickers From Inside a Car's Windshield

Depending on the laws of the city and/or state in which you live, you may be required to place parking, registration or other stickers on the inside of the car's windshield. These stickers can be extremely difficult to remove from the windshield, especially if they have been on the glass for a long period of time. The most important thing you must remember when attempting to remove these stickers is to not cause scratches or cracks on the windshield.

Window Cleaner Method

  Spray window cleaner onto the sticker. Cover the entire sticker with the window cleaner.

  Leave the cleaner on the sticker for approximately five minutes.

  Connect the razor blade holder to the blade.

  Scrape away one corner of the sticker. Be sure to get completely underneath the sticker so that you lift all of the sticker off of the windshield. Continue scraping gently until all of the sticker is removed. Do not try to pull the sticker at anytime, as you could rip the sticker.

  Spray the area of windshield previously covered by the sticker with window cleaner. Wipe the windshield with a soft cloth. Doing so removes any residue left by the sticker.

Portable Hair Dryer Method

  Charge or put fresh batteries into a portable hair dryer.

  Take the hair dryer out to the vehicle. Turn the dryer on to its highest setting. Wait about five minutes so the dryer completely heats up.

  Place the dryer's nozzle in front of one corner of the sticker. As the sticker's adhesive heats up, the sticker itself begins to lift off of the windshield.

  Connect the razor blade holder to the blade. Gently scrape the sticker off the windshield.

  Soak a soft cloth with clear rubbing alcohol. Wipe any remaining residue off the windshield. Dry the glass with a soft cloth.
