How to Take Tequila Out of Car Carpet

Cleaning a spill like tequila from your car's carpeting is no different from cleaning liquid spills from any type of carpet. Because your car is an enclosed area, however, you should clean any liquid spills as soon as possible to deter mold growth. You don't need any expensive cleaning solutions to clean your car's carpet; common household ingredients will do the job effectively.

  Blot up as much of the tequila spill as you can with a clean, dry towel. Blot toward the center of the spill from the outer edge to keep the spill from spreading.

  Mix 1 tsp. of undiluted white vinegar and 1 tsp. liquid dish soap with 2 cups of warm water. White vinegar helps to remove stains and it neutralizes odors. Test the mixture on an inconspicuous part of the car's carpet to be sure it is color safe before using the solution on the stain. Sponge the cleaning solution into the tequila spill and dab thoroughly.

  Blot away excess cleaning solution with a towel.

  Rinse the area with soda water. Carbonation in the soda water helps to lift away any remaining stain or odor. Soda water does not leave residue, which makes it a thorough rinsing agent.

  Blot the cleaned area with a clean, dry towel until the carpet is dry to the touch.

  Leave your car's windows cracked open, if possible, to allow remaining moisture to escape the car.
