How to Test Samsung D830

Making calls and taking pictures from virtually anywhere is the job of Samsung's D830 cell phone. Upon receiving your phone, you'll want to make sure that it's functioning properly before relying upon it every day as your main phone. Learn how to properly insert the battery and SIM card, charge the phone, turn it on, enter the SIM PIN, make and receive a call, end a call, adjust the volume during a call and take and review pictures.

      Install the battery and SIM card by first sliding the battery chamber cover open using your fingertips. Slide the SIM card into the slot located on the lower rim of the battery chamber, receptors first. Next, insert the rechargeable batteries, receptors facing down, and then reattach the cover. Insert the travel adapter into the left side of the phone, and plug the other end of the adapter into an AC outlet. The battery icon on the display will show itself charging. After it has fully charged, the icon will stop moving. Remove the adapter.

      Turn on the phone. Press and hold the red "End Call" button. If this is your first time powering on the phone, you may be asked to enter the SIM PIN. Enter the PIN and push the soft key to select "OK." Try turning the phone off by pushing and holding the "End Call" button once more.

      Manage calls by first opening the phone. Make a phone call by simply keying in the number you wish to call, beginning with the area code. Press the green "Call" button to send the call. During the call, use the up or down buttons to adjust the volume. End a call by pushing the red "End Call" button. Answering a call is similar, except when the phone rings, push the green "Call" button. After your done talking, press the "End Call" button to hang up.

      Take a picture with the camera by flipping open the phone. Pres the soft key to access the "Menu," then "Camera." Point the lens (located on the back of the phone in its opened state) towards your subject. You will see the framed scene in your phone's monitor. Hold the camera steady and when you're ready press the "i" button to take the picture. Take another picture by pushing "Preview."

      View pictures that you've taken by pushing "Menu," "My Files," "Images" and "My Photos." From the library of pictures shown, scroll through them and select the one you wish to view.
