How to Transfer Data From a Treo to Palm Pre

Transferring data from your Treo to your Palm Pre requires the use of Palm's Data Transfer Assistant (DTA). DTA enables you to synchronize information from your Palm Treo phone to a file on your computer. You can then import the information from your computer to your Palm Pre easily.
    • 1

Access the Internet and visit the Palm website. Download the Data Transfer Assistant "DTA" software (see Resources).

    • 2

Select the option "Save" followed by "Desktop." Wait for the download to finish, then click the icon on your computer's desktop to launch the program.

    • 3

Connect your Treo to your computer with the use of a USB cord. Select your Treo profile from the drop-down menu labeled "User."

    • 4

Click each box next to the items that you want to transfer to your Palm Pre. Select the option "USB" followed by "Next" to initiate the data transfer process.

    • 5

Click the icon located on the tray bar at the bottom of your computer screen labeled "Safely Remove Hardware." Select the option "Quit" and unplug your Treo from the computer.

    • 6

Open the "Data Transfer Assistant" menu on your Treo. Tap the option "Palm Profile" and enter the user name and password for the profile that belongs to your Palm Pre.

    • 7

Tap the option "Finish import" followed by "OK" to initiate the process of transferring the data from your Treo to your Palm Pre.

    • 8

Allow your phones to sit undisturbed until the transfer is complete. Click "Done," then restart your phone.
