Transfer and Activate the License

Click "Start" button, then "Administrative Tools." Click "Terminal Server Licensing" in the pop-up menu. The "Terminal Server Licensing" window appears.

Right-click the designated terminal services license server and click "Properties" from the drop-down menu. Click "Telephone" in the "Installation method" tab. Select the appropriate country or region, then click "OK."

Right-click the designated terminal services license server. Click "Install Licenses" from the pop-up menu to launch the "Welcome to the Terminal Server CAL Installation Wizard." Click "Next." The "Terminal Server CAL Installation Wizard" appears.

Call the phone number listed on this page to obtain a "CAL Key pack ID" to transfer the license to the new server. Write down the "License Server ID" in the center of the window and provide it to the customer service representative.

Type the "CAL Key pack ID" after the "Type the client license key pack ID in the boxes below" prompt. Click "Next." A message confirming the installation is complete appears. Click "Finish." The server is now ready to respond to clients.
Deactivate Old Server License

Click "Start" button, then "Administrative Tools." Click "Terminal Server Licensing" in the pop-up menu. The "Terminal Server Licensing" window appears.

Right-click the old terminal services license server and click "Advanced" from the drop-down menu. Click "Deactivate Server" to start the "Terminal Server License Server Wizard."

Review the information contained in the "Required Information" fields. Correct if necessary, then click "Next" to send the deactivation request for processing. Click "Finish."
